![]() To which I said, "why even replace it then?". Anyway after some discussions one of the service advisors seemed to say it's just one of those things and yes he mentioned "body flex" as well. Stopped by the dealer today and they said they couldn't schedule me until the 27th. Smearing the mating surfaces of the roof with heavy silicone fluid/grease will probably cut down the noise to almost zero, but obviously that isn't a permanent fix. Torquing the fasteners is only a short term fix as they will eventually be loosened by the flexing again.Īdding under chassis bracing bars will help with flex. I'm guessing they made the sun roof tight to keep out water and wind noise, so when the body flexes, the sunroof parts rub together and cause this creaking/popping. This sounds like a body flex issue that is causing this. When they originally scheduled the appointment it was two weeks out so they had plenty of time to prepare. While i want them to do it right, Audi should have sent over all the proper tools necessary before me dropping my car off there. I don't really know exactly but it's pretty annoying at this point and now they are estimating it not being done until February 15th. I guess it includes like glue and trim work stuff etc for properly fitting the frame securely on. Just got a call from the shop and they said that Audi didn't send them all of the right parts in the sunroof kit. They have to remove a lot of crap in order to take the sunroof out and put the new panels back on etc. If you look at the pictures above from the original poster, you can see it's pretty extensive. To answer your question the Service Advisor drove around in the car with me and diagnosed it and said it needs to be replaced. We’re you able to get this fixed? If so, what did they diagnose and do? I’m about to bring mine in myself in 2 days. Not yet. ![]() You just have to decide how much this annoys you. I went searching for people who have had this done and only found a few accounts and they said it went well. If I get this fixed and something else makes noise it'll also annoy me constantly but maybe it's fixable with hushmat or other means. I relented when I concluded that this noise annoys me constantly. I'm kind of torn though because I could almost see something else going wrong or be affected if they basically have to disassemble the entire top of the car. This was my exact concern. Unfortunately, it does still creak at low speed at angles like speedbumps and transitions, but I also have some slightly vibration/rattling at say 40-50mph on the street, which is annoying. I asked them on the most recent visit to order a new frame/track to replace it, but they said they had to follow the TSB procedure of fixes first. The first time they said there was no official TSB as well, and the second two were adjusting/adding felt, per the TSB.
